UnitingCare West would like to introduce the Clearer Vision Project. This project, put forward by the Tranby Day Centre team in conjunction with Optometry WA, involves the remodelling of donated prescription glasses for Tranby clients in a bid to improve the eyesight of those who are currently experiencing homeless.
If you have any prescription glasses that you no longer need, and would like to donate them, you can deliver them to UnitingCare West’s reception at 16 Sunbury Road, Victoria Park. These glasses will then be remodelled at Acacia Prison in preparation for homeless Tranby clients.
Optometry WA currently plans to provide a free clinic at UCW’s Inner City Centre for homeless clients once a month beginning in March 2015. This service will include eye tests and prescriptions all free of charge for clients.
Vision and eye problems are a big issue for those who are currently experiencing homelessness and can create further health and well-being issues. This service will go a long way in improving the vision of these members of our community, which in turn may further improve their general health and well-being.
