Participants from UnitingCare West’s Community Options program were given the opportunity to meet the Fremantle Dockers AFL team after their open training session at Parry Oval in Fremantle.
The group was welcomed into the VIP area near the Dockers’ club rooms where they had a front row seat. They watched the two hour training session as the Dockers prepared to take on the Eagles in the Western Derby last weekend.
Following training the players signed team posters, footballs, hats and shirts for everyone. Participants were given the chance to meet their favourite players and to ask them questions in the lead up to the highly anticipated game.
Community Options allows those living with a disability to take part in a range of activities that promote life skills, or simply offers the chance to relax with friends. Participants inform UCW what they like doing, and we match them with a group of people that like doing the same thing. We also support participants in developing the confidence and skills to join in.
