Leadership Training

To support our Team Leaders on their management journey, UnitingCare West has partnered with aged care provider Juniper to provide an intensive leadership course to their dedicated supervisors.

The professional development course is designed to take our Team Leaders' frontline management skills to the next level.

We would like to congratulate Sarah Midolo from Community Options, Tara Reynders from Therapeutic Support Services and Lyndon Nilsson from Food Rescue for graduating the Leadership Program.

Some of the topics covered during the course include:

• Emotional Intelligence
• Pulling the Plug on Negativity
• Managing Workplace Health & Safety
• Performance Management/Negotiation and Conflict Resolution
• Prioritising and Decision Making
• Mentoring and Coaching/Leading a Team

Places were very limited and candidates had to be dedicated supervisors with an interest and passion to develop their skills and knowledge.

“I considered myself very fortunate to have been chosen for this program. Leading up to the commencement of the program I was intrigued as to what I would learn and be able to transfer back to Food Rescue.”

“I found the participation from almost the entire group of fellow participants to be really positive. Along our journey I learnt a lot from them on their background, experiences and what leadership qualities they showed.”

“As the program progressed I found I was able to transfer some of the skills and knowledge I acquired to work situations. The overall feeling I got out of the program was being able to focus on the things that mattered and things that I could control. Prior to the program I would often feel frustrated by situations that I couldn’t control and which caused undue stress,” said Lyndon Nilsson Food Rescue Team Leader.

This is just one of a range of development and learning opportunities that UnitingCare West is able to offer to its workforce - both staff and volunteers.  As a leading Western Australian not-for-profit community services organisation, with a workforce of more than 700 staff and volunteers, UnitingCare West aims to provide the best service possible to our clients and participants.  In order to achieve this it is vital that we continue to provide skill and knowledge development across our workforce.
