UCW is celebrating International Volunteer Day

Saturday 5 December is International Volunteer Day, and UnitingCare West wishes to sincerely thank all of our 300+ volunteers, as well as our corporate and school volunteers for the work, effort and time they give us and our clients, year after year!

We are honoured to have this support and commitment from so many wonderful individuals and groups across a range of programs.

At UnitingCare West we recognise the value of volunteering and aim to enhance service delivery and connection to communities through the assistance of volunteers. During 2015, UCW was able to count on the help of more than 300 volunteers, all of whom contributed in some way to helping those most in need in our community.

“I volunteer with UCW because they do some great work in the community, assisting clients in whatever way possible. Everyone’s got their own story and it feels awesome to be a part of it,” says David, a volunteer with Community Connections.

To thank our volunteers, UnitingCare West will hold a Volunteer Thank You event. This event will take place on Saturday 6 February 2016 and will host a range of fun activities and entertainment.

“In this busy, time poor world, many people become lonely and isolated. At Rainbow as we share lunch together we have time to listen and conversation engenders caring and friendship,” says Bethlyn, a volunteer with Rainbow.

If you would like to volunteer with UnitingCare West and give back to your community, make new friends or just genuinely enjoy the experience of working with those most in need, please visit http://www.unitingcarewest.org.au/make-a-difference/volunteering/become-a-volunteer/

Once again, thank you very much to everyone who has contributed their time to UnitingCare West throughout 2015 and in previous years.
