About True Colours

@ True Colours we know people don’t choose their sexuality or gender and at times everyone can find it hard to feel like they fit in. There are lots of things that can come up when you are trying to understand sexuality, including what this means for your own identity plus your relationships with friends and family. This can be particularly challenging when you live in a small community. True Colours can help! We offer support for young people through fortnightly spaces in Albany and Bunbury where young people can get together in a safe environment.

There are also lots of events and activities throughout the year for you to get involved with so get in touch with us and learn more. If you are living in any area outside of Perth, True Colours may be able to provide you with some support. in the past we have provided support for young people living in Geraldton, Busselton, Denmark and lots of other areas so get in touch to see what we can do for you!

True Colours is a program of UnitingCare West, a not for profit community services organisation. We welcome people of all faiths at True Colours, and although we sometime discuss issues around sexuality and spirituality we are not a church group and you don’t have to be into religion to come along.

True Colours Spaces

True Colours is a FREE safe, open and inclusive group for young people under the age of 25 to be open about sexuality and gender. The group meets for a few hours every fortnight but there are also opportunities to be involved in other activities. The group is always open to new participants – they are welcome to join us at any time of the year. True Colours is staffed at all times by a qualified worker.

Body Think July 17th 2009 True Colours is very excited to announce that we will be running Body Think, a one day body image and self esteem workshop during the school holidays. Body image was ranked as the issue of highest concern in the 2008 Mission Australia Youth Survey. Every day young people are bombarded with visual cultural messages that portray unrealistic physical ideals and pressure to be visually perfect.

Body Think is for all young people to have space to talk about body image issues while building self esteem, and learning skills to help understand outside influences. Please contact True Colours to register your interest or for more details
