Intensive Family Services

These programs focus on parenting and family functioning with the aim of bringing about nurturing and safe environments for children.

To this end our workers can offer assistance and expertise in many areas, including practical parenting skills, child development, home management, advocacy, risk management and safety planning.

The services offered under this banner include:

Family Connections Program

This program is aimed at families where a child is not currently living with their parents and where the focus is on safely reconnecting children, wherever possible, with their family.

The goal of the Family Connections Program is to achieve the best possible level of reconnection between parents and their children.

A senior case worker and family care worker liaise with the family for up to four months to help identify the particular circumstance and level of connection which best suits the children’s and parents’ needs.

Building Strengths Program

The focus of this program is on enabling parents to provide safe and nurturing home environments for their children with the aim of reducing the risk of harm and preventing the need for out-of-home placement. A senior case worker and family care worker liaise intensively with the family in their home to assist in identifying and developing the strengths needed so that children may remain safely at home.

Family Enhancement

This service assists care givers to build upon their parenting knowledge and skills to enable them to better provide a safe and nurturing home environment for their children.

Families are visited at home approximately once a week over a period of 8-10 weeks to provide assistance with the family’s identified challenges.
