UnitingCare West (UCW) is committed to providing safe, respectful and empowering services for Western Australians with disability.

We fully support the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability (Disability Royal Commission), which is accepting submissions and has now commenced, with the first public hearings and community forums taking place in Queensland, South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania.

The long-awaited inquiry provides an opportunity to confront injustices and put in place measures to prevent, and better protect, people with disability from experiencing violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation in future.

Should a request to contribute to the Disability Royal Commission through the provision of information and documentation be forthcoming, UCW is fully committed to working with the Royal Commission openly and transparently, in order to realise the fundamental human rights of people with disability.
