Food Rescue is a volunteer-based social initiative that feeds and nourishes some of the 9,000 people experiencing homelessness in Western Australia each night.
With our café, corporate and community partners, UnitingCare West’s people-powered Food Rescue carts collect more than 650 items of unsold fresh food each weekday to redistribute to homelessness services in Perth.
Did you know that 500,000 tonnes of food waste goes into land fill each year in Western Australia?
Food Rescue helps to reduce the harm-causing methane produced from rotting food waste while improving the lives of those experiencing homelessness.
