Partnerships with Schools – supporting young Australians to make a change.
At UnitingCare West we value the relationships and partnerships we share with schools, colleges and universities.
Through providing meaningful links for teachers and students to the work that we do, together we can develop young people that are successful learners, confident and creative thinkers and active and informed citizens.
Working with school staff and students with a focus on planning collaborative social justice activities, making connections for service-learning and advocacy activities, fundraising events and curriculum activities. Other initiatives include The Social Justice Conference, Uniting Church Service Learning Network and the Young Ambassadors Club.
Our aim is to increase the number of young people that become engaged in their community. We work with young people to foster the values of empathy for others, a sense of social justice, the vision of a better future and a voice for those who cannot speak.
We work to connect services within UnitingCare West to schools in order to support service-learning, community service, fundraising and volunteering.
We provide guest speakers to present to staff and students regarding current social justice issues and opportunities to make a difference in the community.
We offer on-site visits which provide students with first hand experiences in engaging with people from diverse backgrounds.
We provide opportunities for schools to participate in activities that serve to assist those most in need within our communities.
