Uniting Walks for Reconciliation 2019

During National Reconciliation Week (27 May -3 June), we had professional learning activities in our South West Metro and Outer North hubs and in the city we had a kangaroo stew cook-up, a Reconciliation Morning Tea and over 50 UCW team members joined the Reconciliation WA Walk for Reconciliation.

Before setting off on the walk, UCW team members and people accessing our Tranby services came together for a morning tea, with kangaroo stew, damper and other treats on the menu. Bevan Winmar, a Noongar man, brought a deep, earthy hum to the Tranby Centre with his didgeridoo magic. Tranby was the place to be for a Reconciliation Morning Tea.

The Walk for Reconciliation symbolises a united Western Australia and the respectful relations that are being driven between our First People and all other Australians through the reconciliation movement. It is a public show of leadership, support and solidarity to reconcile our State and achieve parity and equity whilst celebrating the culture and contribution of our First People as a collective Western Australian community.

We are very excited to have doubled the number of participants in the walk this year and are already looking forward to growing our UCW team next year.
